Happenings of Interest Gathered in the County by a Tireless Corps of Correspondents
John Atkins, a former resident of this section, died at Hudson, Oregon of acute inflammation of the brain last month. Mr. Atkins was born in Madison county, February 3, 1825. He was a son of Chas. and Eleanor Atkins, old pioneer settlers of the county. He went to California in 1850, but returned the same year and engaged in farming. In 1874 he went to Oregon where he remained continually.
He leaves one daughter and one son, who reside in Bates county, Mo. and four sisters, one, Sarah in Oregon, who is 65 years old; Mrs. Ruth George, age 54; Mrs. Georgiana Marcum, age 55 and Mrs. Josephine Segar, age 52, all of this place.
