He entered major seminary at Kenrick Seminary in St. Louis and was ordained a priest at Sacred Heart Church in Colby by Bishop Frederick Freking on March 18, 1961. He served various parishes in the Diocese of Salina. He also worked as Judge and Procurator/Advocate on the diocesan tribunal from 1972 until his retirement on July 1, 2007. He subsequently moved to the Catholic Life Center, Wichita.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Regina, Anna, Rose and Irene; and three brothers, John, Stephen and Frank. Survivors included a sister, Dorothy Stephens; a brother, Richard; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, Salina, with the Most Reverend Paul S. Coakley, Bishop of Salina, as the celebrant, with other priests from the Dioceses assisting. Cremation will follow the funeral Mass, and inurnment in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Colby.
