Biography

Wilma L. Cornine, 88, of Nelson, MO, died Monday, December 5, 2011, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 8, 2011, at Heath Creek Baptist Church, with Chris Harper, Minister officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Heath Creek Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Heath Creek Cemetery Association in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Friends may sign the online register book at www.campbell-lewis.com

Born November 8, 1923, in California, MO, she was the daughter of the late James David Newkirk and Beulah Mae Allee Newkirk. On April 19, 1940, she married Sam Cornine who preceded her in death on June 24, 1993. She had lived in Nelson since 1961 and was a retired nurses' aide at Marshall Habilitation Center where she worked for many years. She attended Heath Creek Baptist Church for many years.

Survivors include her children, Larry Cornine and wife Dorothy of Independence, MO, Judi Underwood of Blue Springs, MO, Sammy Cornine of Burlington, KS, Gale Cornine and wife Alice of Nelson, MO and Ronnie Cornine and wife Debbie of Danbury, IA; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one brother, James Newkirk of Tipton, MO; three sisters, Norma Howlett of Oak Grove, MO , Jody Blankenship of California, MO and Sue Nutt of Sedalia, MO; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Steve Cornine and Brian Cornine; two granddaughters, Joy Raines and Amie Cornine; one brother, Charles Henry Newkirk; three sisters, Shirley Volkart, Margaret Roweder and Katie Watts; and two sons-in-law, Jim Barton and Russ Underwood.

Thursday December 8, 2011, 2:00 p.m. at Heath Creek Baptist Church
