Note: legal last name at time of death was Reed.

Mary Elvira Sinclair (St. Clair) was born to Ransom Sinclair and Nancy A. Edrington and was known as both Mary and Elvira.

She was the sister of William St. Clair and siblings M.M., Isaphene (Josephine), Mary Elizabeth, Mack, Susan P., and James A. Sinclair.

Elvira was the granddaughter of George Washington Sinclair and Lucinda Cosby of Orange County Indiana; and the great granddaughter of Isaac Sinclair and Letitia Douglas of Breckinridge County KY, and of Silas Edrington and Elizabeth Fisher of Gibson, then Warrick County Indiana.

She married Louis (middle name George?) L. Clark in May 11, 1894 in Evansville, Vanderburgh County and they were the parents of a baby girl born in June 1894 and a male child Jesse Clark (m. Audie Bell). These births were published in the Evansville Journal News on June 24, 1894 and May 5, 1895 as children born to Mr. and Mrs. Louis Clark. Louis was the son of Taylor Oran Clark and Mary A. "Mollie" Chandler. Louis married several times more after he and Elvira divorced.

Her second husband was Charles Daniel Davis, married on 4 Nov 1899 in Pike County, Indiana and they were the parents of Opal Mae (m. Alonzo Coleman), Ruby Lillian (m. Ovie Robling), Ida Bell (m. Prentice Montgomery), Raymond Rae (m. Jewell Evans) and Othnell Phillip Davis (m. Bess Grubb).

There is a conflict in that there is a record of birth for a Ruth Davis born on February 26, 1901 in Pike County, parents Charles and Elvira Davis. Opal was born on May 5, 1901 and is on all the censuses with her parents while Ruth is not.

Found a third marriage to unknown Reed. Uploaded death certificate shows her legal name was Mary Elvira Reed when she died.
