Walter I. Heffner, 90, of 616 N. Third St., died at his home at 7:20 a.m. today.


Mr. Heffner was a loom fixer for Susquehanna Mills and later worked at Kennedy Van Saun, Danville. He retired in 1955. He was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, a life member of the Goodwill Hose Company, and the Old National Guard Company K for eight years.


Born in Lower Augusta Township, he was the son of the late Edward N. and Harriet DeWitt Heffner. His wife, the former Catherine A. Campbell, died before him.


Surviving are eight children; James of Danville, Raymond of Reading, Marlin of Sunbury, Edward of Selinsgrove, Kenneth and Robert, both of Sunbury, Mrs. Jane Kerstsetter of Tonawanda New York, and Mrs. Mary Winters of Sunbury, 12 grandchildren, and 37 great-grandchildren.


Four daughters and one son died before him.


The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Ernest Koren Jr. Funeral Home, Sunbury. The Rev. Leo F. Duerr retired Lutheran minister will officiate. Burial will be in St. Luke's Cemetery, Sunbury.
