Rev Alexander was licensed to preach by West Jersey Presbytery in 1897. He served a Presbyterian congregation briefly in Kansas in 1899, then in 1900 moved to Iowa where he served as pastor of the Presbyterian congregations in Kirkville and Wilson, Iowa. In 1906 he moved to Belle Plaine, Kansas.
