Jamier Edmund Stevens was born December 29, 1880 In Polk County, Nebraska. He passed away near his home Saturday morning March 27th at the age of 67 years 2 months and 29 days. He was the youngest son of Jamier Edmund and Julia Etta Stevens. His childhood was spent on a farm. During his early life he was a regular attendant at the Sunday school and took an active part in young people's activities of the Cooper Methodist Church. He was an Odd Fellow member for many years. He received his education in the little country school and later at the Grand Island Business College.

On April 20, 1904 he was united in marriage to Miss Signe Charlotte Norman of Stromsburg, Nebraska. His early life was spent farming and in 1905 he with his wife and baby moved to the new town of Polk, where he helped promote the business of the new town. He was engaged in Auto Delivery business and was a mail carrier for twelve years. In 1919 he with his family moved to a farm north of Chappell, Nebraska in Garden County. This is where he resided until his death.

Those surviving are the widow, Signe Charlotte of Lodge Pole and the following children: Gertrude Julia Brestel of Dalton, NE; Rodney Norman of Limon, CO.; Jamier Edmund Jr. of Inglewood, CA. and Stanley Reinhold of Lodgepole, NE. He also leaves two brothers, William of Polk and Theodore of Polk and a sister Lula McClure of Polk. There are ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. He also leaves to mourn many nephews and nieces and a host of friends. Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist Church at Chappell and at Polk, Nebraska at the Methodist Church on Wednesday. Burial was at the Polk cemetery.
