Sarah Bryan's obituary appears in the Harrison Sun on 9/15/1911 which can be found at the Sioux County Museum. According to the obituary, she was born Sarah McLain in 1846 in Missouri. She married Isaac W. Bryan in Nebraska City, Otoe County, Nebraska in October 1868. She was survived by her husband and two sons, Frank Whitley Bryan and Henry Bunyan Bryan. The obituary states that Frank and his father buried Sarah; Henry Bunyan arrived from New Mexico shortly after the burial.

Sarah and Isaac had several children who preceded them in death and were buried in Nodaway County, Missouri.

Sarah and her husband Isaac lived in Nodaway County, Missouri before moving to Williams Creek, South Dakota. In June of 1910, the elderly couple moved from South Dakota to live on the Nebraska-Wyoming border. Sarah died in Wyoming and was buried in Harrison, Nebraska. Isaac died June 13, 1924 in Sioux County, Nebraska.

Sarah was one of the daughters of John Thomas McLain and Isabella Whitley McLain Turpin. Her mother is buried in Keya Paha County, Nebraska.
