Irene Babiuk, 76, of Nanticoke, and formerly of Hunlock Creek, died Friday in Hospice Community Care, Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.

Irene Babiuk, 76, of Nanticoke, former resident of Hunlock Creek, died July 9, 2004, at Hospice Community Care, Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
Born Oct. 28, 1927, in Nanticoke, she was a daughter of the late Roman and Bertha Baronowski Wojciechowski. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Polish National Catholic Church, Plymouth. She served the public as a notary for 44 years. She was employed as a cook for 12 years at Retreat State Hospital and also worked several years at General Cigar Company, Nanticoke.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore; brothers, Henry Wojciechowski and Frank Baron.
Surviving are her son, Paul, Nanticoke; and sister, Helen Krasucki, Nanticoke.
Private funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. from the Clarke Piatt Funeral Home Inc., 6 Sunset Lake Road, Hunlock Creek, PA 18621. Interment will be in the parish cemetery in West Nanticoke, Plymouth Township.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.
