James H. Reed was born in Boston Twp., Summit Co., 1815. With his parents he moved to Parkman when he was 3 years old. 2 years later they moved to the Doctor DeWolf place, West of Ravenna. James soon went to reside with an Uncle, Peter Stroup east of Chestnut St. where he remained until he was 18 years old. When he married Tursey they set up house keeping in Ravenna on West Main St. In about 2 years they moved to a farm in the Northeast of Franklin Twp. where they resided until 1876 when they moved to Kent, Ohio. He and Tursey had 12 children. They are both buried in Standing Rock Cemetary in Kent, Ohio.
