He was born Feb. 1, 1929, to William and Hazel Flatt in Pomeroy. His family moved to Anatone and he attended the Asotin/Anatone School throughout his school years and graduated in 1947.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1947 to 1949, during peace time and served throughout the United States.
He married Bonnie Peavey June 1953 in Asotin and the couple had a son. The couple divorced in 1962.
He then married Darlene Baney in 1971 in Coeur d'Alene. Darlene and Pappy were married until her passing in December 1991.
Pappy was a self employed truck driver from 1949 until he retired in 1990. He drove logging truck in the area from 1949 until 1971 when he began hauling fuel for both Gleason and Thiessen oil.
He lived in Asotin until 2003 when due to health he had to move to the Garfield County Nursing Home in Pomeroy.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bill; mother, Hazel; and wife Darlene.
A graveside service will be conducted at noon Friday at Normal Hill Cemetery with a dinner to follow at the Asotin Lions Club.
Memorial donations may be made to Garfield County Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home or to the Humane Society.
