FOREST GROVE - Julia "Helen" Abbott, 105, died Jan. 31, 2010, at her home.

Julia Adling was born Oct. 21, 1904, in EL Paso, Texas, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Adolf Adling. She moved with her family to Vancouver, Wash., as a child. She graduated from Vancouver High School in 1923.

On Jan. 21, 1925, she married Charlie Abbott, in Vancouver, Wash. Following their marriage, the couple operated a dairy farm in Vancouver, Wash. They then moved to Lincoln City, where they owned D Lake Motel for several years.

Upon retirement in 1951, they moved to Parkdale, Wash. She moved to Forest Grove in 1992.

First and foremost a mother, she enjoyed traveling, knitting and gardening, flowers and dancing.

She was lifetime member of the Parkdale Grange and the Hazeldale Rebecca Lodge in Odell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Abbott; and sister, Dorothy Johnson.

Survivors include her children, Donald Abbott, Lois Starns and Hazel Jansen; sister; Lillian Mulford; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
