Douglas Scott Barney, 54, passed away July 11, 2004.

He was born February 7, 1950 in Salt Lake City to LaVere Huff Barney and Shirley Mae Iverson. He grew up in Orange County, California and was married to Darlene Ellen Heinz Barney on October 24, 1970.

Douglas served in the United States Air Force from 1969 to 1971. He was a transmission specialist by trade. Douglas was also a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many different capacities including elders quorum president and ward mission leader.

Doug blessed the lives of many people through his musical talents by singing in many choirs, musical productions and family celebrations. He was also a beloved father and family man who deeply enjoyed time spent with family, friends and neighbors.

Douglas is survived by four children and their spouses: Doug (Erika) Barney II, Tammy (Jason) Jones, Russell (Heather) Barney and Brian (Jennifer) Barney. Also by eight and a half grandchildren. He is loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 15, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. in the Battle Creek 3rd Ward Chapel, 1222 East Nathaniel Dr., Pleasant Grove, Utah. Friends may call Wednesday from 6 to 8.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street, Orem, and also on Thursday at the ward chapel from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery with full military rites provided by VFW District #4.
