Wallie was apparently gone from all contact with the family for many years. I cannot say where or what the circumstances of his personal diaspora were. He is visible on the 1900 census for Liberty County GA. And the next record he shows up on is a Florida state census in 1945 in Sumpter County. In between those years no record can be found for Wallie.

His death certificate lists a Polly Stanfield as his wife. Since he is shown as a widower at the time of his death, she must have predeceased him.

According to Faye Middleton Harrison, Victor Velton Middleton found Wallie living in an old folks home in Lakeland Florida in late 1957. Vic's brother Claude Lawson Middleton went and got his Uncle Wallie and brought him to live with them for a period of time. In early 1958 he took Wallie to live with Wallie's sister Lizzie Middleton Davis in Ludowici GA, where he was living at the time of his death.

It was Uncle Claude who picked out the location of Wallie's grave at the rear of the cemetery.
