According to Faye Middleton Harrison, Victor Velton Middleton found Wallie living in an old folks home in Lakeland Florida in late 1957. Vic's brother Claude Lawson Middleton went and got his Uncle Wallie and brought him to live with them for a period of time. In early 1958 he took Wallie to live with Wallie's sister Lizzie Middleton Davis in Ludowici GA, where he was living at the time of his death.
It was Uncle Claude who picked out the location of Wallie's grave at the rear of the cemetery.
