Published in the Oklahoma Today magazine, Winter 1996 issue:
They all lived in Tuttle: Shelly, her husband Gary, her daughter Jordan Elizabeth, her mother and dad, her sister Kimberly. Such proximity has been known to drive a family apart or bring them together. In the case of Shelly's family, it actually did the latter.

The Turner daughters sewed, baked, and tole painted together. Birthdays and holidays saw some 20 relatives gather for potluck dinners. Shelly was the oldest of the two sisters, and Kimberly says, She taught me a lot, encouraging her younger sibling to think and stand up for herself. Shelly set an example by helping others.

At her core, however, was her daughter Jordan's needs. Most days, Shelly was home by 6 pm, ready to spend a quiet night watching television, coloring, and playing games before Jordan's bedtime. Observed Kimberly, the family lost a kind heart with Shelly's passing.
