On 24 June 1900 John W. Hugill (b. Mar. 1849), wife Cynthia (b. Nov. 1860), children; Arthur (b. Mar. 1877), Harry (b. May 1879), William (b. Feb. 1881), Lettitia (b. Nov. 1882), Lora (b. Sept. 1884), Minnie (b. Jan. 1886), Edith (b. Oct. 1887), Pearl (b. Mar. 1890), Dora (b. May 1891) and Allice (b. April 1899) lived in Martin's Bluff Precinct, Cowlitz County, Washington. John and Cynthia had been married 24 years, having 12 children, 11 living. He was a blacksmith. They owned their home free and clear. Son, Arthur was a logging teamster. Harry and William were farm laborers. NOTE: Information as it appears on original image of this census. Some of it is incorrect. For instance; Lettie was born in 1883 and never known by Lettitia or used it, Lora was Laura, Allice was Alice and daughter, Leona (b. 1897) isn't listed at all.

Mrs. Edith Brewer


Kelso, Wash., May 17, -(Special)- Mrs. Edith Brewer, 42, died at her home south of Kalama last night. She is survived by the widower and eight children, ranging in age from 20 years to 18 months. Police chief Jenkins of Portland is a cousin. She had lived in Kalama for many years. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at the Kalama Methodist church, with Rev. Mr. Jorgenson officiating.
