David J. Cessna, 83, Punxsutawney, passed away Thursday, April 29, 2010, at Bon Secours-Holy Family Hospital in Altoona. He was born June 1, 1926, in Marion Center, a son of the late William F. and Sarah (Hill) Cessna.

Mr. Cessna was married to Barbara E. (Heckman) Cessna of Punxsutawney, who survives.

He was a member of the Assembly of God church in Punxsutawney.

Mr. Cessna served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a member of the American Legion in Punxsutawney.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include two sons, Leonard J. Cessna and wife Connie, and William F. Cessna, all of Punxsutawney; a daughter, Carol Smith and husband Barry of Plum; a brother, Scott Cessna of Florida; a sister, Jane Kerr of Baden; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David Cessna; a brother, Joseph Cessna; and two sisters, Lois Cessna and Ada Belle Seger.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 2, 2010, at McCabe Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 3, 2010, at the funeral home with with Pastor Chris Golembiowski officiating.

Interment at will follow at Union Cemetery in Rossiter.
