Gladys was the daughter of William David Wilson and Nettie Fuhrer Wilson. Gladys was one of two children, the other an older sister, Evelyn Catherine Wilson Dunn (who is also buried in Wyuka Cemetery). Gladys was an exceptional person, always ready to listen to others, be a helper for others, even if it was just talking together. She was wise about people and life. She had an amazing memory and could remember the genealogy, including dates, and stories, of her family tree and branches, and also unbelievably the same for the Long family tree. I used her knowledge of her family tree, and had it proved by genealogists to join the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Gladys Wilson married E. T. Long June 7, 1915 in Sterling, Logan, CO. They met when she was working at Miller and Paine Department Store and he was working for Wells Fargo Delivery Company. He made a delivery to the department store and met Gladys on the elevator. He said right off that "he was going to marry her someday" and he did! They homesteaded near Grover, Weld, CO. E.T. then owned an auto repair shop in Bushnell, NE. About 1925, they returned to Lincoln, Lancaster, NE. They had three children, Carol Catherine, Elyse Evelyn, and Louis William.
