Penny A. Crane, 51, of Shickshinny Valley Road, Shickshinny, left this earthly world after a prolonged battle with cancer Saturday morning, May 1, 2010, at Hospice Community Care Unit, Wilkes-Barre. Born January 3, 1959, in Nanticoke, she was a daughter of the late Floyd E. and Loretta R. Robbins Crane. She graduated in 1976 from Northwest Area High School. She formerly managed Legion Pizza, Glen Lyon, and was last employed by Step by Step Inc. of Pennsylvania, Wilkes-Barre. She belonged to N.A. and A.A. and celebrated 15 years of sobriety this past August. She loved to cook and crochet. She made wheelchair blankets for veterans at the V.A. Hospital and hats and scarves for the homeless. She attended Bower Memorial United Methodist Church, Berwick. She loved spending time with her granddaughter. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd E. Crane Jr. and Lloyd E. Crane; and a sister, Patricia A. Maczuga. Surviving are a son, Daniel J. Crane, Berwick; a granddaughter, Mackenzie S. Crane; three brothers, Lee E. Crane, Valdosta, Ga.; LeRoy E. Crane, Shickshinny; Leland E. Crane, Mocanaqua; four sisters, Peggy A. Harrison, Berwick; Portia A. Miller, Glen Lyon; Paige A. Mitchell, Shickshinny; Priscilla A. Yacuboski, Shickshinny; many nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Bower Memorial United Methodist Church, 2nd and Pine St., Berwick, with the Rev. Julie Rosensteel, officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Sorber Cemetery, Reyburn. Visitation will be Tuesday at the church from 6 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. The family will provide flowers. Donations should be made to Hospice Community Care, 601 Wyoming Ave., Kingston Pa., 18704 or to the American Cancer Society , 190 Welles Street, Suite 118, Forty Fort, PA 18704.
