She was born July 19, 1923 in Jamestown La. to the late Carlton Neil and Lilla Wiggins Boddie. She was retired, having been a bookkeeper and LVN and was a Methodist. Mrs. Benton was preceded in death by two husbands, Mitchell DeWitt Scott Sr. and John Benton. Survivors include son, Mitchell Scoot Jr., South Carolina; daughters, Susan M.
Gilbert, Brazil and Nancy S. Scott, San Antonio; three grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
