Richard L. Abernatha

One of our most loyal and dedicate employees, Richard L. Abernatha, died early Thursday monring with cancer taking his life at only 46 years of age.

Dick came to work in the mechanical department of this newspaper back in 1970 and moved from the letterpress to the offset method of printing with the paper and became the composing room foreman back in 1988.

His transition to the updated computer era was completed with long hours of work and dedication to his chosen career and The Sheridan Press is a better newspaper and place to work today because of his contributions.

Not only is Dick missed here on a daily basis but we have fond memories and lasting contributions of his efforts here at the newspaper.

We extend to his mother, Gene, brother Jim, and sons Curt and Brian, along with the four grandchildren, our sympathy and hope that you'll cherish good memories as we do about your sonm, brother, dad and grandpa.
