Thomas J. Garbark, 84, of Castle Shannon, died Friday, November 17, 2006, one of ten children of Nathaniel and Clara Garbark of Edgewood.

Mr. Garbark was a graduate of Tulane University and received his master's degree from University of Pittsburgh.

He served as first lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. His assignments included Saipan, Tinian and other Pacific islands.

Mr. Garbark retired from Keystone Oaks School District after 39 years of service.

He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, Castle Shannon, for more than 60 years.

His brother, George (Maggie) Garbark of Berkley Springs, W.Va., survives.

He was the beloved husband of 59 years to Muriel Garbark, who is deceased; beloved father of Paul (Diana) of Brentwood, Thomas Jr. (Chris) of Elizabeth, Rita Carter of Mt. Lebanon, Richard (Cheryl) of Plum, Robert of Castle Shannon, Larry (Joyce) of West Mifflin, Mary Ann Koenig (Mike Berta) of Cecil, Jerry (Kazuko) of Akron, Ohio, and Ann Marie (Pasquale) Fabbozzi of Dormont; grandfather of Brian, Brooke, Amy, Thomas, Douglas, Nicole, Michael, Joseph, Jeffrey, Christopher, Neal, Kevin, Joshua, Ryan, Shannon, Isabel, Nina, Alexis, Nathaniel, Nina and Zachary; and great-grandfather of Jadelyn, Joslyn and Isis.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday in Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Inc., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Tuesday, November 21, in St. Anne's Catholic Church, Castle Shannon. Interment will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil.
