The shock of the accident reported below cause the State of Texas to devise and start putting "no passing zones", ie yellow stripes on the roads.

ZILLIOX KILLED, 4 HURT NEAR LIBERTY Wife, Daughter, 2 Friends Suffer Injuries.... ,..New Cars Hit Head-on...........Victim was Chief Engineer Of Tanker Washington.......................... Allen Zilliox, 44, chief engineer on the Texas Company tanker, Washington and resident of Port Arthur for 16 years, died instantly Sunday night in a head-on automobile collision about 3 miles this side of Liberty. Mrs. Zilliox, their daughter, Lucille, 16, and two other passengers were painfully injured in the crash, which occurred as they were returning to Port Arthur from Houston. Suffers Broken Arm Mrs. Zilliox suffered cuts and bruises and a broken arm. She was under the care of a physician at her home 5052 Procter, today. The daughter also was cut and bruised. Other passengers included Mrs Billy Stitsel and her mother Mrs Romel Franham, both of 3748 Ninth Avenue and Mrs Zilliox,s small nephew, Kenneth Lentscke. Only Mrs Franham was uninjured. Mrs Stitsel received cuts and bruises, and the boy suffered a broken arm.. X-ray pictures of Miss Zilliox and Mrs. Stitsel were taken today at Mercy hospital in Liberty, but no broken bones nor internal injuries were discovered. They will be brought home in an ambulance this afternoon, Return Sunday Night Mrs Zilliox, Mrs Franham and the boy came to Port Arthur Sunday night after the injured received emergency treatment at the hospital, where they were taken by a Pace-Stacil funeral home ambulance. Friends said the new Buick club coupe, driven by Mrs Zilliox, collided head-on with another new automobile which had pulled out of the line of traffic in an attempt to pass other cars. Mr Zilliox was killed instantly, it was said. Mrs Franham tore strips of cloth of her dress, friends said, and gave the injured first aid before the ambulance arrived. Car Demolished Driver of the other car was unidentified here today, and it was not known whether any persons in the other vehicle were injured. The Zilliox car was demolished. A native of Nevada,Mo,Mr Zilliox had lived in Port Arthur for 16 years, all of which he spend working for Texas Company as a seaman. He was a mason, member of Cosmopolitan lodge 872, and an American Legionnaire, Rudolph Lambert post 7. He served overseas in the Marines corp during the World war. Masons and the Legion will give Mr Zilliox, a Masonic and a military funeral. Services will be held Tuesday at 5 pm at Grammet's mortuary with the Rev Harry Sarles officiating. Pallbearers named Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery.
