James A., Jr. age 53, Edmond, Ok., died April 19, 1995, as a result of the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City. He was born in Des Moines, Ia, a graduate of Dowling High School and the University of Northern Iowa. James came to Edmond in 1994 and was Director of the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Toastmasters Club. James is survived by his wife, Joyce McCarthy, Edmond, Ok.; 2 sons, Todd McCarthy, Overland Park, Ks. and Tim McCarthy, Edmond, Ok., daughter, Kristi McCarthy, Edmond, Ok.; parents, James A. & Lorraine McCarthy, Des Moines, Ia.; 4 brothers, William, Jon & Kevin McCarthy, all of Des Moines, and Joseph McCarthy of Orlando, Fl.; 5 sisters , Anne Marie Valdez, Helen Villirillo, Mary McCarthy & Christine McCarthy, all of Des Moines, & Margaret McCarthy, Lorimor, Ia. Memorial contributions may be made to The Salvation Army. A vigil will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, Dunn's Funeral Home. Fu neral service 2:00 pm. Thursday, May 4, Basilica of St. John's with burial in Chapel Hill Gardens, Des Moines, Ia.
