Joseph was a clothing manufacture he started his business in Omaha, Nebraska in 1887. The firm of Gilmore & Ruhl. The company was moved to St. Louis April,1897. After the death of Mr. Gilmore Joseph organized the J. A. Ruhl Clothing Co., wholesale clothing manufacturers of which he was president. He started making pre-made suits to buy off the rack. Joseph spent twenty years on the road in the interest of his business.
Joseph is buried by his parents, Anton and Caroline, his wife Catherine is buried in California with three of their daughters.
