Fred Boyer, age 55, of Cahaba Heights/Vestavia Hills, died unexpectedly early Friday morning, April 14, 2006. He was born May 22, 1950, in Memphis, Tenn. He graduated from Ramsay High School in 1968, and the University of Montevallo in 1972, where he was a member of Theta Sigma Chi/Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He attended Mountain Brook Community Church. He was employed as a salesman at Susan Schein Chevrolet of Pelham and was also a GM certified Internet Manager. He loved all sports, especially Alabama football and NASCAR races. He was known for his humor, thoughtfulness, and spontaneous generosity, such as when he gave away all his baseball caps to the members of a road crew doing repairs on his street. He was also actively involved with The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.

Mr. Boyer was preceded in death by his mother, Roberta Dodson Boyer. He was survived by his wife of 34 years, Mary Anne (Adkison) Boyer; one daughter, Katie Boyer; two sons, David Boyer and Stephen Boyer; his father, Blake Fred Boyer, Sr.; five sisters; two brothers; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Monday, April 17, 2006 at Avondale United Methodist Church.
