Born March 18, 1923, in New Waterford to Clarence A and Mabel l (Esenwein) Crider, he was a lifelong area resident.
During World War II, he received three bronze stars and on purple heart while stationed with the US Army in the Rhineland and Central Europe.
A Lutheran by faith, he also held membership in the Veterans of foreign Wars Washingtonville Post 55532. He was a former member of Masonic Lodge in Leetonia and the Eagles Lodge 2415 in New Waterford.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte A Crider, a daughter Mrs Robert (Wilda Jean) Jones of Dover; two sons John D Crider of Marquette, Mi and Craig E Crider of Richmond, Va; two stepdaughters, Roberta Puckett of Enon valley, Pa and Mrs John (Terry) McLaughlin of New Waterford; four sisters, Germaine Coy of Salem, Mrs Dale (donna) Mauch of Waynesville, NC, Mrs Robert (Viola) Chellis and Mrs Marion (Dorothy) Moser both of Columbiana; a brother Clarence "Junior" Crider of Columbiana, several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was precied in death by a sister, Janice Hawkins.
Graveside services will be held at a later time at East Carmel Cemetery in Roger. Arrangements were made by the Dawson Funeral Home in East Liverpool.
Memorial contribution my be made to the Salem Visiting Nurses Association or the New Waterford Volunteer Fire Department.
