Went to Texas from Georgia upon the recommendation of Wert Hudson (very likely Thadeus Worth Hudson) who had migrated there from Georgia. Traveled by train to Texas, liked what he saw and sent for his wife and children. They came and he drove a team of horses and wagon to Morgan to meet his family. Shortly after the family arrived he caught Pneumonia and died. His family returned to Georgia.

8/24/2012: Two additional children of Elijah William Pettit are:
1. Nancy Osborne Pettit (1891-1976, my grandmother), married Anthony Pate McIntyre and is buried in the Mount Vernon City Cemetery, Mount Vernon, Montgomery County, GA
2. John Bradley Pettit, born around 1889 and is buried in Gilmer County, Georgia.
