He was a native of Aiken County, son of the late John and Leslie Ruff Arthur. He was a member of Mayer Memorial Lutheran Church and was a retired employe of Newberry Mills.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs Lottie Kesler Arthur; a son, Garrett D. Arthur of Newberry; a brother, Willie Arthur of Aiken; and two sisters, Mrs, Annie Gunter of Aiken and Mrs Claude Bell of Beach Islalnd.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Mayer Memorial Lutheran Church by Rev. John H. Koch Jr. and Dr. C. K. Derrick.
Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery.
The body is at Whitaker Funeral Home and will be placed in the church at 3:30 p.m Tuesday.
