Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Thompson Dow, 75, who died unexpectedly of a heart attack at her home in Cookeville Monday morning, were held yesterday afternoon at the Methodist Church. The Rev. H. Thornton Fowler and the Rev. Dow Ensor conducted the services, and burial was in City
Cemetery.
Mrs. Dow had been in ill health for a number of years, but was active in the work of her home until she suffered the heart attack. She was the daughter of the late G. B. and Sallie Rollins Thompson. She was married 59 years ago to Willis Dow, a survivor. Mrs. Dow was a native of Smith County, moving to Cookeville 60 years ago.
Active in the Methodist Church since she was 13 years of age, Mrs. Dow was crowned "Queen Mother" of the church last May by the Wesley Brotherhood. Her church work centered around the Ladies Aid Society and the Woman's Society of Christian Service.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Dow leaves three daughters, Mrs. Albert Morris, New Middleton; Mrs. Walter Snodgrass, Detroit, MI, and Mrs. Hubert Crawford, Cookeville; one son, Julius Dow, Detroit; eight
grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren.
