Mrs. Anna Formanek, maiden name Vrbsky, was born August 26, 1863, in Hyskov, near Beroun, Czechoslovakia, and passed away at her home at Wilber, Thursday, June 26, 1947, at the age of 83 years and 10 months.

She came to America with her parents, Joseph and Anna Vrbsky at the age of 16 years. They came directly to Saline County, Nebraska where they settled on a farm.

On July 1, 1883, she was united in marriage to Joseph Formanek. The union was a happy one and was blessed with six children. The family lived 2 years in Big blue precinct and then moved to Pleasant Hill precinct. In 1913 they retired from the farm and moved to Wilber to spend the rest of their lives. Her husband preceded her in death in May 1928.

She leaves to mourn her departure three daughters and one son, Mrs. Vaclav (Elizabeth) Sicner, Mrs. Frank (Marie) Dvorak of Wilber and Mrs. Joseph (Emma) Svoboda of Crete and Edward Formanek also of Crete; 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Her parents; husband; son, Joseph; daughter, Mrs. Anna Srajhans, sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Prachar, Mrs. Katherine Jonas, and Mrs. Mary Skliba and brother, Frank Vrbsky preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held from the Houser-Chab Chapel Saturday at 2:00 o'clock with Rev. K. O. Zavadil officiating. Milo Chaloupka sang. Burial was in Big Blue cemetery.
