They lived in Spartanburg when Charlie was a boy. His death certificate states he was born in Buncombe County NC. The 1930 US Census states Alabama. The 1920 Census, living in Rock Hill, SC, states he was born in NC. 1940 Census- Alabama. I think this mystery may never be solved.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Emma Richardson Ross; three sons, S. Sgt. Charles Ross Jr. of Shepherd Air Force Base, Wichita Falls, Tex., Frank J. Ross of Charlotte and Roy W. Ross of the home, a daughter, Mrs. Fred C. Roberts of Charlotte; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
