Mark Shannon, Age 58, transitioned into his heavenly home on May 8, 2010.
Mark is well known around Oklahoma City as a radio personality, most recently as the "Air Czar of Oklahoma Radio" for KTOK's late afternoon drive time.
He was not afraid of expressing his opinion and is known for his stance on political issues and topics around town and around the globe.
Mark was born in Lincoln, Nebraska where he lived until graduating from Southeast High School in 1969. After high school, he served in the Navy as an air traffic controller. His radio career began in 1974 in Montrose, Colorado.
After hosting many programs around the country, Mark landed in Oklahoma City in 1983. As reflected on his website, markshannon.com, Mark's passion for current events continues to touch his many followers. He was also a recovering alcoholic of 30 years, and his honesty, openness, and vulnerability inspire those who know him.
Mark's greatest fulfillment came from people and the relationships he developed throughout his life. He enjoyed visiting with friends and family until his final few hours.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Kris, and their canine children, Ruby, Gracie, Snug, and Lolly; his two brothers, Bruce and Todd; his nieces Micha and Jessica.
Memorial Service held at Faith Bible Church Edmond on Thursday, May 13th. at 2:00 pm. Memorial donations can be made in Mark's name to Faith Bible Church.

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Conservative Oklahoma City radio show host Mark Shannon died at his home shortly after midnight Saturday.
Shannon, 58, was diagnosed with leukemia in 2000. He was released from Baptist Integris Hospital Friday afternoon.
On his website blog, Shannon said recently that his condition was worsening and though he was not giving up, he was preparing for death.
"I've had a life blessed beyond what I deserve, and I have few regrets," he wrote. "If my time here is up, then I am confident that God will prepare me, much as everything leading up to this point in my life has prepared me for the next step in life."
Newsradio 1000 KTOK published a statement from his wife, Kris: "I would like to thank all his fans, friends, family and co-workers for all the prayers, love and support that they've given him throughout the years and especially during this last week. Mark believed in Jesus Christ, and he is now at home with his Father in Heaven."
