Elaine Roberts Bourie was born in Hancock County, Ohio. The daughter of Ralph Johnston Roberts and Verna Baumgartner Errett and the step-daughter of Rev. Clayton Strawser (all of whom are deceased). She graduated from Van Buren, Ohio High School in 1943 and married Arthur Dale Bourie of Fostoria, Ohio in Van Buren, Ohio (during World War II) in 1944.
Elaine was a professional secretary for 44 years and retired as administrative secretary to the vice president of nursing at Lutheran Hospital. She was a member of many professional organizations: president of Old Fort Chapter, ABWA: president of Tawasi Chapter , PSI: president of Valparaiso University Women: Member: Women in Construction: Shoaff Park Senior Golf League: 25 years Inspector Election Board: Driver for Homebound Meals: Associate Member Of Christ Lutheran Church, St. Petersburg, Florida and 50 year member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Elaine is survived by three children: Jane (Russ) Elaine Grose and Barb (Bob) Anne Babbitt, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Dr. Dick (Carolyn) Dale Bourie, DVM of New Glarus, WI. She was further blessed with seven grandchildren: Rusty and Janna Grose: Michael and Matt Babbitt: Scott and Suzanna Bourie, and Stephanie Jaecks. Great-grandchildren, Abby and Aaron Babbitt, Drew Johnson, Mason and Abby Jaecks. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Sue Wagner, of Van Buren, Ohio. She is preceded in death by her husband, A.D. Bourie in 1994 and brother F. Clark Roberts.
Services will be held at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
She will be given a Christian burial in Prairie Grove Cemetery in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Pastor Jim Platner will be officiating.
