Sarah Jane Anderson, daughter of Robert Valentine and Margaret Emeline Rogers Anderson was born September 13, 1865 in Clark County, Indiana. She was left motherless at the age of three years. At the age of 6, she emigrated with her father by covered wagon to Illinois, settling one-half mile north of Clarksville. Here in the immediate vicinity, she grew to womanhood and on July 26, 1885, she married Charles Albert Fox, who preceded her in death December 16, 1937. To this union were born three daughters and three sons.

She was converted and joined the Clarksville Baptist Church more than forty-five years ago under the pastorate of Rev. T. D. Davis. She was a very devoted wife and mother, always giving the members of her family preference to herself even during her last illness. Death came to her very suddenly and unexpectedly at her home in Clarksville on May 1, 1942, causing a great shock to her beloved children. The deceased at the time of her death was 76 years, 7 months, and 18 days of age.

She is survived by her six children, Mrs. Minnie Babcock of Marshall, Ill., Miss Edith Emily at home, Mrs. Edna Sims of Kansas, Ill., Emil of Clarksville, Waldo and Henry of Kansas, Ill., also six grandchildren, Mrs. Helen Jane Murphy, Miss Eileen Fox, Mrs. Thelma Stark, Mrs. Virginia Hibachman, Mrs. Doris Batchelor and Charles Babcock and five great grandchildren; Antone and Terry Murphy, Terry and James Hibschman and Kent Stark; one half-brother, Robert Anderson of Kansas, Ill., and three half-sisters, Mrs. Dimple Mount of Terre Haute, Ind., Mrs. Mary Wiser of Charleston, Ill., and Mrs. Laura Poorman of West Union, Ill., and one uncle, John Rodgers of Atwood, Ill., and many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Our mortal loss is her eternal gain where she awaits the reuniting of the family circle.

The services were conducted at the Clarksville Baptist church on Sunday at 2:30 p.m., by Rev. W. A. Fuson of Martinsville, Ill., and Pastor Rev. F. M. Sparling.
