Kevin McGlinchey was my father-in-law, a quiet gentle man with a quick sense of humour. He never missed work a single day in his life and never had a day late. He was the son of Hugh McGlinchey & Margaret O Rafferty. He was married to Margaret McKillen and was father to John, Mary, Kevin, Hugh, Patrick and Kathleen. He was also grandfather to Kevin, Christopher & Connor Burke, Jennifer & Daniel, Marie-Therese, Hugh, Brendan & Caitriona, Kevin (deceased), Clare (deceased), Catherine & Michael and Marisa McGlinchey.

He had the same job all his life working in precious metals and was a champion fiddler. He loved to pull up to the piano and get a sing song or dance going and played music by ear.

He became ill early 1994 and after many Dr`s, tests, and hospital appointments he was told `Well, you know you have cancer`......No he didn`t. My husband is the only child who did not live in Ireland and so he went home in July to spend 3 wonderful weeks with his father and take him everywhere he wanted to go. They visited many favourite places, his old home in Lucknow Street (Clonard District, Belfast) and took lesiurely country drives. My husband also brought Christmas decorations, a Santa Suit and lots of Christmas gifts. They had Christmas in July when the whole family got together before their dad would get too ill to enjoy the company. Ironically it would be their last `Christmas`together as he died Christmas Eve 1994.
