DEATH NOTICE: DeRuyter Gleaner, Thursday, 1 Jun 1916, p. 7; There was a large attendance at the funeral of Miss Rena Albro, which was held at the church Sunday p.m. Rev. N.L. Campbell officiated and burial was made in the Cuyler cemetery. Rena was 24 years of age and leaves to mourn her sudden death, her father, George Albro, two sisters, Mrs. John Bush of Truxton and Mrs. Arthur Hulbert of Solon and five brothers, Homer and Charles of McGraw, Newell of Cortland and Floyd and Elmer of Cuyler, besides a large number of friends. For several years she has been a devout member of the Cuyler M.E. church and several of its sub-organziations. The Philathea Sunday School class, of which she was a member, attended the funeral in a body. We were all greatly shocked to hear of the suicide by drowning of Rena Albro last Friday night. Rena was esteemed and loved by all who knew her. Since her mother's death a few years ago, she had been homemaker for her father and younger brothers. Her health was very poor and since her mother's death, she had been subject to spells of despondency.

Rena Albro d. Mary 27, 1916
Truxton, May 27, 1916 - Miss Rena Albro, youngest daughter of George W. Albro, who resides on Cuyler Hill in the Town of Cuyler, committed suicide by jumping into the Labrador Creek on the John Robbins's farm on the north road about 2 miles north of the village sometime Thursday evening. Miss Albro, who keeps house for her father, was spending a few days with her sister, Mrs. John Bush, who also lives on the north road. Thursday she was sick and stayed in bed nearly all day. About 9 o'clock in the evening, after Mr.and Mrs. Bush had retired , they heard her come downstairs and go out doors. Going to the door and not seeing anything of her, Mr. and Mrs. Bush became alarmed and started looking for her. The neighbors were notified and the search continued all night, but it was not until nearly 9 o'clock Friday morning that her body was found in the creek. Miss Albro has been in poor health for several years and it is thought she became despondent. She was a member of the Cuyler Methodist Church. She was 24 years of age. Miss Albro is survived by her father, two sisters, Mrs. Arthur Hurlbert of Homer and Mrs. John Bush of Truxton and four brothers, Charles of McGraw, Homer of Cortland, Newell and Floyd of Cuyler. Buried in Cuyler Village Cemetery.
