Happy is preceded in death by his loving wife Janice Elaine Sasser Osborne, who passed away ten days earlier. Happy is survived by his beloved children, Happy, Jr. and his wife Bobbi of Georgetown, Ky.; John and his wife Caroline of Washington, D.C.; and Jill and her husband Eric Edwards of London, Ky.; and his grandchildren, Madison, Meryn, Eric Gray, Alex, Cole and Lila. His surviving family also include numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Born in Bell County, he was the only child of the late Reverend Oppie R. Osborne and Clara Pursiful Osborne. Happy grew up in Four Mile and graduated from Georgetown College (where he fell in love with and married Janice). Happy coached basketball and taught school in Falmouth, Gallatin County, Pine Knot, and Williamstown. He also taught school in Harlan County and Bell County. Happy was an elementary school Principal in Woodford County and the Superintendent of Schools at Lynch and in Marion County, where he retired from after working in the public schools more than 35 years.
A Celebration of Happy's life will be held on Monday, May 10, at Faith Baptist Church in Georgetown, Ky. Visitation begins at 11 a.m. and the service begins at 1 p.m. Following the Celebration of Happy's Life, there will be a reception.
