Born August 1, 1916, in Moffat County, Colorado, to George W. and Leona Collins Baese, he came to this area in 1967 from Vernal, Utah. He married Grace E. Jones on Jan. 20, 1972. He was a miner and had retired from the Coeur d'Alene School District. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Hayden Lake, an avid fisherman and hunter and loved golf and bowling.
Survivors include his wife at home; son Keith Baese of Hayden Lake and Richard Baese of Pinehurst; daughters Lola McNamara of Bremerton, Wash., Deon Pollock of Post Falls, and Barbara Saunders of Page; stepsons Robert Helgeson of Veradale, Wash., and Jim Helgeson of Idaho Falls; stepdaughters Virginia Douglas of Spokane and Donna Douglas of Kasson, Minn; brother Elbert Baese of Vernal, Utah; 27 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing hours will be noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at Coeur d'Alene Memorial Chapel.
