MORGAN - Alta DeVere "Dee" Simper Porter, 89, passed away May 31, 2005 in Ogden, Utah. She was born on March 5, 1916 in Vernal,Utah, the daughter of Walter Simper and Edna Maria Bouwthorpe Simper.

Dee resided in Vernal and attended school. After graduation she went to Grand Junction to school, and then moved to Salt Lake City where she graduated from LDS Business College.

On June 22, 1940 she married Russell C. Porter in Morgan, Utah. He preceded her in death February 5, 1990.

She was employed at State Finance in Salt Lake City and Morgan Co. Assessors Office, followed by employment at Weber State College in the book store. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Morgan First Ward and served in Young Women, Relief Society, and enjoyed being a Visiting Teacher. Grandma Dee was a spiritual woman with a deep love and abiding faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a charter member of the Culturettes Club and enjoyed the friendship and association of all club members. She enjoyed her home and loved to cook and fuss over her family.

Surviving are two sons, Ronald (Anne Marie) Porter, Morgan; Dennis D. Porter, three grandchildren Matthew West (Kellie) Porter, Neisha (Steve) Beltran, Jade Russell Porter; and four great-grandchildren Madisen and Talor Porter and Cayle and Cullen Beltran. Also surviving are one sister and brother-in-law, Verna and Charles Cardwell of Salt Lake City. Preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Irvin and Walter B. and two sisters Lennie and Jennie.

The family expresses sincere appreciation to the terrific staff at Peachtree for the wonderful care and friendship provided to Grandma Dee.

Graveside Services will be held Friday, June 3, 2005 at 12 noon at South Morgan Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Walker Mortuary in Morgan Friday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Primary Children's Hospital.
