'Mrs. Susan E. Stuart of Hermitage was born in Bradley County on April 4, 1855, and died on January 15, 1943, at 8 A.M. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Dan Bradley of Hermitage, and seven sons, Tom Stuart of Anniston, Ala., O. G. Stuart of Jacksonville, Texas, John D. Stuart of Atmore, Ala., Charles, Lusk and Fred Stuart of Hermitage and W. H. Stuart of Warren. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and services were held in the Hickory Springs Church at 3 p.m. January 16, with Rev. J. W. McCain in charge. Burial was made in the Hickory Springs Cemetery. Six grandsons acted as pallbearers and included Vance Stuart, Joe Wilson, Houston Stuart, Paul Pennington, Charles Greenwood, and Billie Joe Stuart. The granddaughters had charge of the flowers and included Mary Sue Stuart, Annie Lee Stuart, Mrs. Carl Pennington, Mrs. Joe Wilson, and Mrs. Dot Greenwood.

Susan was the daughter of Solomon Reuben Etheridge and Levana E. Davis. She married Jonathan Davis Stuart on 16 January 1877 in Bradley County, Arkansas, they had eight children: Oren Greene, John Fredric, Lusk Davis, Sarah, William Hicklin, Jonathan Davis Jr., Thomas Gilmore, and Charlie Ross Stuart.


She was my great-grandmother.
