Alex Warren Russell, 63 years old, miner and former chief of police of Galena, died at 3:35 o'clock Sunday morning at St. John's hospital, where he has been a patient for two days following a paralytic stroke. Mr. Russell served as chief of police under Mayor E. B. Morgan. He also was a former night officer. He has lived in Galena all his life.
Although Alex lived in Galena, he died at St John's hospital in Joplin, MO. He was buried in Galena, Cherokee County, Kansas, where he lived.
