Harvey M. Painter, 83, of Stanley, died at the Page Memorial Hospital Monday, June 29, at 10:15 a.m. after being a patient in the hospital for one day.
He had been in failing health for six weeks. Born June 10, 1881 in Stanley, he was the son of Peter C. and Mary E. Price Painter.
He was a member of the Alma Primitive Baptist Church and was employed as a railroad section man.
His wife, the former Della Lee Petefish, whom he married November 25, 1901 preceded him in death on October 31, 1955.
He is survived by the following children: Leon M. Painter, of Aliquippa, Pa., Mrs. Linda Bradley, of Stanley, Gilbert A. Painter, of Verbena, Robert L. Painter, of Stanley, Mrs. Jeanette Walters, of Bel Air, Md., and Harvey G. and J. Medford Painter, both of Stanley.
Also surviving are twenty-three grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Freeze and Mrs. Mamie Comer, both of Stanley.
Three brothers and three sisters are deceased. The body was moved to his late home Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at the Alma Primitive Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 2 (today), with the Elders Sudduth, Thompson and Redmond officiating.
Burial will take place in the family cemetery.
