The Naples Record
Naples, Ontario County, New York.
Wednesday, October 16, 1901
At 7 p.m., Sunday last, our village was aroused at the report of the sudden death, of Frank M. Pottle, and the report proved too true. He went to the barn to feed his horse, and while so engaged passed away suddenly. The physicians pronounce the cause heart trouble. Although he had not been well for more than a year his family and friends had not thought him in any immediate danger. Frank was born here June 12, 1850, and during his life was intimately associated 'With the growth and welfare of his town, foremost in all the good works for its benefits and beauty. Genial in his manner; friendly and helpful to all; honest and reliable, he had become a factor of the community so important that he will be greatly missed. He was one of five to give bonds for the completion of the Middlesex Valley railroad since, the Naples branch of the Lehigh Valley road and was ever ready to step into enterprises to benefit his town and its denizens. Frank was beloved by all and the loss will be deeply felt. He leaves two brothers, William L., of Naples, and Henry W., of Buffalo, and one sister, Miss Elizabeth Pottle, of Naples, also a circle of relatives who more acutely feel the blow. He was the second son of our honored townsman, Hon. E. B. Pottle, deceased. The funeral is being held this afternoon, at the family home, Main St., beginning at 2 o'clock, Rev. Peter McKenzie, of the Presbyterian church, officiating, of which we will give full details in our next issue.
