"SCHENEVUS - Tyler M. Chase, a native of Schenevus and a member of one of the district's pioneer families, died early Wednesday morning after a long illness. Funeral services will be held at the Tillapaugh Funeral home Friday at 2 o'clock with burial in the family plot in Schenevus cemetery. Mr. Chase's death occurred in the house where he was born. Tyler M. Chase was the youngest and only surviving son of Samuel T. and Henrietta (Sperry) Chase, and with the exception of a few years spent in California and the Middle West, had been a life-long resident of Schenevus. For many years he was a member of the firm of Chase & Mills, conducting a general hardware and plumbing business. In August 1889, Mr. Chase was married to Miss Edith M. Tice, then a teacher in the old Schenevus academy. Of this marriage four children were born, Sawyer T., Ford, John and Miss Nia Chase, the latter residing at home; also five grandchildren survive ..."
