Funeral services for Roxie Opal Blackwood, 81, of Addison will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2010, at Nesmith Church, Jeff Wiggins, Joe Calvert and Steton Hayes officiating, with burial in Nesmith Cemetery in Addison. The body will lie in state from 1 to 2 p.m.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Blackwood died Thursday, May 13, at her residence. She was born Jan. 7, 1929, in Addison. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie and Joanna Smothers Maddox; two children, Jimmy Blackwood and Diane Blackwood; two brothers, James Maddox and Jodie Maddox; and three sisters, Ellie Edmonson, Ann Doman and Eve Lauerson.

Survivors include her husband, Oran Anderson Blackwood; six daughters, Sue (Jim) Schulien of Addison, Juanita (Merle) Barnett of Addison, Carolyn Elrod of Cullman, Rita (David) Speegle of Cullman, Elaine Widner of Cullman and Bonnie (William) Harbin of Priceville; a son, Danny Blackwood of Addison; nine grandchildren, Jeff Pilgrim, Billy Barnett, Mark Pilgrim, Tracy Davis, Jessica Creel, Holly Thompson, Lance Blackwood, Dillon Widner and Ethan Widner; six great-grandchildren, Reagan Earl, Peyton Creel, Gunner Creel, Will Barnett, Samantha Pilgrim and Cole Thompson; two sisters, Cora Pigg and Betty Adams; two brothers, John Maddox and Quinton Maddox; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be Mrs. Blackwood's grandsons.

The family extends a special thank you to Omega Hospice, Caregiver Elaine Clayton, and Ladies of Sardis Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church.
