Mary Pearl Schindel was born July 4, 1942 in Princeton, IL, the daughter of George and Wanda Taylor Schindel. She was a member of the Tampico Church of Christ and was educated in the Tampico Schools, graduating from Tampico High School in 1960.

She married David Gustafson in 1965 in Peoria and they spent their entire married life in Moline.

Mary, 30, of 412 Court 4 Center, Springbrook Courts, Moline, passed away August 7, 1972 at Moline Lutheran Hospital after an extended illness. Surviving are her husband, David, and four sons, Patrick, Denny Jo, David J. and Eric at home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Schindel of Tampico and two brothers, Kenneth Schindel in the US Navy and Clarence Schindel of Tampico. She also leaves her paternal grandmother, Mrs. Mary Schindel of DePue.

Services were held Thursday, August 10 in the Wendt Bros. Funeral Home in Moline with burial on Arsenal Island, Rock Island. A memorial has been established.
