Verna C DIERDORFF BUTT, 96, of Brazil died at 1:35 pm Friday, Sept 17, 2004 in Clay County Health
Center, she had been a resident since February.
Born June 26, 1908 in Clay County, she was the daughter of William C DIERDORFF and Elizabeth ROMAS DIERDORFF.
Verna graduated from Staunton HS in 1926 and she married A Lloyd BUTT, the love of her life, in 1928.
They raised their family on a grain/dairy farm in Posey Twp.
She was a talented seamstress and craftsman, winning local and state awards. She delighted in making
unique upholstered footstools for each of her children and grandchildren. She also designed handcrafted placemats
from recycled greeting cards for each family member with the individual's hobbies and vocations in mind.
She was known as a marvelous cook and her noodles and angel food cakes were always winners.
Verna was a member of the Pleasant Grove Church of Christ and faithfully attended until failing health made it impossible.
Survivors include
2 sons: Bill A BUTT of Shepherdstown, W VA and Virgil and Mary Jo BUTTS of Brazil
2 daughters: Louise (Hubert) FAGG of Brazil and Mary (Steve) YOUTZ of Commerce Twp, MI
13 grandchildren: Byron (Ruth) FAGG, Cathy (Gary) RODGERS, Joan(Jack) MITCHELL, Amy (Kipp) FINCHUM,
Jamie (Bob, Jr) TREASH, David (Victoria) FELLING, Cyndy (Rich) FURLONG, Jayne GOLDSEN

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 61 years and a brother Virgil DIERDORFF
Services will be Tuesday at 2pm in Miller Memorial Chapel with Brother Walter Hunter officiating.
Burial will follow in Summit Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 4-8 pm and Tuesday prior.
