James Booth

MIDDLEPORT - James A. Booth, 62, a former resident of Middleport, died Friday evening at a Charleston hospital. He was a former resident of the Gravel Hill section of Middleport and had worked here in the Hobson shops for the New York Central railway.

He was the son of the late Andrew and Carrie Davis Booth and is survived by his wife, Leona, two sons, Lenley, Charleston, and James K., Lubbock, Texas. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Horton (Lera) Brown, Columbus, and Mrs. Maude Sprouse, West Columbia, W. Va., and five grandchildren.

He was a member of the Masonic F&AM, Chelyan Lodge, Chelyan, W. Va., the York Lodge, Charleston, and the Benj Kedim Shrine Lodge, Charleston. He was also a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Boilermakers.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Rawlings-Coats Funeral Home Tuesday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Charles Simons. Burial will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery at Cheshire.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Sunday.
