James Francis Varner, 83, died at 3 p.m. Friday at the Lincoln Terrace Nursing home at Quincy. He was born August 1, 1886 at Lebanon, a son of James Henry and Frances Baldwin Varner. He was a member of the Christian Church of Burlington, Colo. On August 1, 1906, he was married to Laura Moore who preceded him in death February of 1937. In 1947 he was married to Lillian Chapman who died in 1951.

Survivors include nieces and nephews. A brother and two sisters also preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Musgrove - Cedar Funeral Home at Bethel. The Rev. Jerry Kaser officiated with interment at Shiloh Cemetery.
